Starr cargo team partnered with Bespoke Events Management to take 15 team members and brokers out of the city and into the Peak District for a private two-night retreat. For this audience, the answer was not formal dinners or traditional corporate hospitality. Starr wanted something relaxed, authentic and quietly confident, creating an environment where its team and brokers could spend genuine time together without the usual pressures of a business event.
The experience needed to strengthen broker relationships without feeling like a networking event. With a small group, every element mattered. The setting needed to encourage conversation naturally, while the programme had to offer enough shared experiences to bring people together without filling every hour of the day.
The goal was simple: create the conditions for good relationships to develop, then give people the space to enjoy them.
We based the group at a converted country pub in the Peak District, creating a relaxed home for the retreat and building the programme around the landscape, local hospitality and time together.
Rather than over-programming the stay, we kept things intentionally simple. A countryside walk through the surrounding hills led to a traditional pub stop, while private dining, a BBQ, local ales and informal games gave the group plenty of reasons to come together throughout the two days.
Behind the scenes, Bespoke managed the accommodation, transport, hospitality, guest logistics, branded merch and on-site delivery so Starr could simply host its brokers.
Guests swapped meeting rooms for walking boots, Peak District views and a proper country pub.
Days were spent outdoors exploring the countryside, with pub stops and shared meals along the way. Back at their private base, the group could settle in over local ales, good food, games and relaxed evenings together.
There was no need to manufacture networking moments. The environment did that naturally. For Starr and their guests, the retreat created something increasingly valuable in client hospitality: uninterrupted time with the right people, in a setting where conversation could happen without an agenda.
